May Club Meeting – Field Day

May Club Meeting – Field Day

Craig N6 and Jim K6NCG will discuss SCCARC Field Day 2025 for our May 16 meeting.

We are considering goals for summer. We looked to improve on last year’s club event. We realized that we doubled our attendance with the lure of ham related classes. These short ham related classes were separate from our teams of CW, Phone and Digi operators . We also provided lunch for the people. After years of hotdogs, we switched it up for freshly seared taco meat, tortillas, lettuce, tomato and fixings. This meal came off our griddle quickly. Left over food was easily frozen for the next club event. A decent lunch improved our attendance.

We will offer a number of short thirty minute classes. taught by our (normally reclusive) experts. Teaching may be (interesting) when done under an Oak Tree or set of large pop ups.

We’ve managed to grow our club when we’ve had successful events.

As with every year, we will rely on our CW, Phone, DIGI, FM team captains for lining up volunteers to setup, break down stations and to schedule assistant operators. We strengthened last years event by including the Safety and food coordinators as FD Captains.

With a bigger event, we will need a roving event manager, to coordinate and troubleshoot issues. We will always find power, logging, computer, station build issues to work through. No station captain should ever feel alone with station problems.. A roving event manager will help vector our experts to the problem ares.

We will announce a Zoom meeting to coordinate all the moving parts.
