SDR Radio Battles GPS Spoofing
SDR Radio Battles GPS Spoofing
The current issue of the IEEE Spectrum magazine contains an article describing how GPS can be spoofed with potentially devastating impacts on many critical systems. The article mentioned how such attacks could be detected and, as recently as April 2014, a team at UT Austin concluded that “we think the strongest spoofing defenses will probably combine distortion detection and direction of arrival sensing.” They propose to implement those measures in a software defined radio. These techniques are familiar to those in the DSP software, developed by our own Warren NR0V, and implemented in advanced Amateur radios such as the Anan series.
